The GasIQ Optimator ll 30L gas saving regulator two outlet for Use with backing gas is a high performance dual stage regulator with an in-built economizer and meter to gauge flow. It is mainly used for advanced gas shielded welding production applications, where it will reduce the total welding cost by decreasing the gas consumption by up to 50%. In addition, reduced porosity sensitivity improves weld quality. 

The GasIQ Optimatoll 30L Gas Saving Regulator Two Outlet For Use With Backing Gas multi stage function will give stable gas flow even when the line pressure drops.
This productis availiable In lockable and non lockable regulators.
This Regulator was formally known as the lockable Elga Optimator®.
Proven results

Tests have showen that Volvo saves at least 43% gas through the installation of the GasIQ Optimator ll 30L gas saving regulator two outlet for use with backing gas.

To see how much gas could be saved, the following test was done at Volvo Bus in Uddevalla a town in Sweden: At one of the Volvos welding points, a repetitive weld is performed which takes about 60 minutes. The test consisted of the welder to performing one cycle using an existing gas regulator and the following cycle with the Optimator. A flow meter with a digital counter was connected to measure the gas flow during the two welding tests. A Check was also performed at the welding gun with a flow meter to chech that the gas flow was the same for both welding runs. The gas flow was measured as 18 l/minute.

Results:

Consumption of gas using existing equipment: 838 LPM
Consumption of gas using Optimator: 429 LPM

The test Concluded that Optimator consumed 49% less gas. To err on the side of caution, an error margin of 10% wass added to the value read off the flow meter. It can therefore be stablished that Optimator saved at least 43% of the gas in this weld test at Volvo.
