Emery Cloth
Abrasives: Emery Cloth, Emery Roll & Emery Sheet
What is Emery Cloth?
Emery cloth is a lot like sandpaper; it is a sheet with abrasive material that is used for sanding material. What is the difference between emery cloth & sandpaper? It differs in a couple of ways:
- Sandpaper has a paper backing, emery cloth is backed with a cloth type materials.
- Sandpaper uses sand as the abrasive medium, whereas emery cloth uses an abrasive medium such as corundum or aluminium oxide.
Typically emery sheet has more consistent grain size & is much longer lasting than sandpaper.
Common uses for emery sheet & emery roll include general maintenance, removal of rust from workpieces, paint removal, dirt removal, general sanding & polishing (with finer grit products).
